White coloured ball
Till 28 November 1978, only red coloured ball was used in cricket. But a one day match of a world series between Australia and West Indies was to be played under floodlights at Sydney Cricket Ground, where a white ball was chosen. White ball is used in One Day and T-20 cricket, so that players can easily see the ball in matches played under floodlights. Currently, white ball is used in every one day format, these white balls are stitched with dark green thread.
Pink ball
In cricket, pink ball is used only in day-night test matches, so that players can easily see the ball even at night.
